Operation MOS Guides

How we make these guides

These guides explain decisions that come with leaving the military. They connect practical explanations to the original sources so you can check the rule that applies to you.

Sources behind the explanation

Each guide starts with a source pack. Laws, regulations and government program pages support benefit and eligibility claims; employer and product documentation supports descriptions of their own processes. The Sources section links to the material used in the article.

Rules, suggestions and examples

Official deadlines and eligibility rules are different from suggested planning targets. Guides label examples as fictional and explain when a date or option depends on your circumstances. A calculator shows the arithmetic for its stated rule; its surrounding explanation describes who the rule covers.

Review and updates

We write and review these guides with AI assistance. Agent review checks claims against source material; it is not a review by an accredited claims representative, financial counselor, lawyer or other credentialed professional. Drafts receive a fact audit and editorial review, and Operation MOS decides whether to publish. Each article shows its update date; dated rates, forms and policies need another check when they change. Source links let you consult the current official instructions.

These guides provide general information. For help applying a rule to your situation, use the free human assistance linked in the relevant guide. Found an error? Report it to Operation MOS.

Your information stays yours

You can read every guide without signing in or uploading a document. Dates entered into the guide calculators stay in your browser page. Downloaded calendar files are created there too. There are no saved reading marks or account connections in this library.
